Focus On: Crown Stackers

October 29, 2020Back in 2017 we at Industrial Truck Service Ltd. demonstrated our commitment to continual improvement by certifying in Toyota's ASEC program. Standing for After Sales Service Evaluation & Certification, the ASEC program is a top-to-bottom look at a dealership's behavior, informed by Toyota's core values of kaizen (continuous improvement) and 5S ( seiri (整理)/"sort", seiton (整頓)/"set in order", seisō (清掃)/"shine", seiketsu (清潔)/"Standardize", and shitsuke (躾)/"Sustain").
From documentation to tool placement, work flow to safety, ASEC looks into the nooks and crannies of an organization and checks under the rugs for any and everything. Looking for gaps, inefficiencies, and the dreaded "We've always done it that way," this process aims to make everyone involved take a long, hard look at what they're doing and try to find the ways it can be improved. By providing a framework of assessment and standards to reach, the ASEC process gives clear guidelines on how to work towards improvement every day. Central to this is making sure that it isn't a "one and done" event but is instead a living process that continues day after day.
Part of ensuring this process is ongoing is the fact that ASEC certification expires. We at Industrial Truck Service are proud of being the first forklift dealership in Canada to attain this certification back in 2017, but that also meant that ours was the first to expire. So we re-certified!
In June of 2020 we were notified that our recertification had been approved, and can proudly add another ASEC trophy to our awards case.
Toyota says this about why you want an ASEC certified forklift dealer working for you:
As a result of this comprehensive process, the service teams at ASEC-certified dealerships have their shops well-ordered and ready to go so that they can focus on the task at hand: servicing and repairing your forklifts, order pickers, reach trucks, automated systems, and other material handling equipment. And that’s what you want. Because when your service team is moving efficiently, you are, too.
